ANGELA
O'CALLAGHAN
Angela O'Callaghan, a native of NYC, obtained her doctorate
from the Department of Horticulture of Cornell University,
where she concentrated her studies on garlic production and
physiology. Her Master's Thesis was entitled "Cultural Practices
for Improving Garlic Production in the Northeast", and the
title of her dissertation was "Optimizing Nitrogen Utilization
in Garlic".
She is currently on the faculty of the University of Nevada,
Reno, College of Cooperative Extension. In her position as
Area Specialist in Social Horticulture she teaches adults
in non traditional settings. Her teaching includes directing
the Master Gardener Program, creation and supervision of the
school gardens program, and developing a correctional horticulture
project, which trains inmates of five state prisons and jails
in horticulture for future employment.
